Canadian pop artist Rx is kicking off the perfect summer vibes with her comeback single 'Nex Ting.'

Inspired by a complicated budding romance and her Caribbean roots, she is reintroducing herself as an artist with a new sound after taking some time off from her craft. The singer-songwriter shared her experience about liking someone and later on finding out they were in a relationship (yikes!). Lucky for Rx, the glass was half full and she was able to spin the unfortunate situation into a sexy track about wanting someone and owning your power.
"I wanted to write about it in a cute way, not in a 'steal your man' kinda way," she expressed.
Her vision was brought to life from a voice note of the chorus, and after an incredible studio session, the pop-dancehall, single-girl bop was formed. The official teaser garnered nearly 20K views as supporters anticipate its release.

Rx admitted to exploring different genres, and writing and creating different things while reminiscing her journey as an artist.
"I was just pretending a little. I was trying to fit myself into this box, but I'm not shaped like a square, I'm shaped like a circle," the singer said.
She is no stranger to writing music. As a child, Rx developed her skillset writing poetry which eventually led to her turning a few of her pieces into a song after teaching herself how to play the guitar. Rx got her big break after co-writing for the BTS track "My Time" on the album Map of the Soul: 7 (2020). Eventually, she was recruited by Stargate, a duo consisting of two of the biggest producers in pop music. She attended a camp for creatives as a songwriter receiving mentorship from Grammy-winning singer Ne-Yo among others and left as an artist herself. Now she's stepping back on the scene with a vault full of infectious bangers and positive energy just in time for summer.
"I write songs that are dope, but I can't really pinpoint who would sing these songs, you know? So I came back and I was like, 'you know what? If I'm going to bet on anyone, I'd rather bet on myself.'"

One of the biggest things she cherishes is black representation in pop music. As a music-lover and developing artist, she cited Rihanna, Beyoncé, Drake, Pussycat Dolls, and SAINt JHN as some of her favorite musicians.
Rx is ready to dominate this year. Recently, she played her first show of 2023 and didn't hesitate to let everyone know that things are only going up from there. She has completely immersed herself in writing music and getting prepped for a small tour in the United States later this year.
Along with 'Nex Ting,' Rx has plans for a
few more singles and an EP. She even shared her excitement about planning some killer choreography for the very near future.
"I hope that I will be able to prove myself as a writer, as a producer, or as an artist just in general."
'Nex Ting' will be available on all streaming platforms this Friday, March 31st. Follow her on twitter at twitter.com/textsfromrx.
