The 2021 American Music Awards nominations are officially in, and there's no surprise that the spicy Pisces Olivia Rodrigo holds the crown for the most nominations of any artist for this year's show, a deserved reward after an incredible breakout year in music.
Rodrigo's AMA's debut is nothing short of excellence with seven nominations in the favorite pop album, favorite pop song, favorite female pop artist, favorite music video, favorite trending song, new artist of the year, and artist of the year categories. The last person to receive recognition to this extent was Billie Eilish with six nominations at her AMA's debut in 2019.

The Weekend dominates with the most nominations for a male artist receiving recognition in six categories including Artist of the Year. The record-breaking #1 hit 'Blinding Lights' singer was also nominated for favorite Latin song, favorite R&B artist, favorite pop song, favorite male pop artist, and favorite music video.

While the power and demand of these two are undeniable, it's safe to say they are up against some of music's greatest artists. Doja Cat has had an incredible year achieving major stardom from her third studio album Planet Her released on Jun. 25. The album has broken an extremely large number of records, including surpassing Brandy and Monica's 'The Boy Is Mine' with 'Kiss Me More' featuring SZA becoming the longest-running all-female top 10 hit in Hot 100 history.
Doja Cat received a total of five nominations, tying with Giveon, and Bad Bunny who leads nominations in the Latin genre.
The Artist of the Year category is stacked with some of the biggest artists this generation has seen including Ariana Grande, BTS who has become the first Korean act in history to be nominated for the award, Drake, and six-time AOTY winner Taylor Swift.
Voting will close on Nov. 16, and the 2021 AMA's will take place on Nov. 25, broadcasting live at 8:00 pm ET on ABC.
